The LeBron 12 won’t get off to the fast start Nike probably envisioned for King James’ latest signature model. On the day it was slated to release, the shoe was pulled from store shelves due “a small cosmetic issue.”
Product quality is a priority for Nike. Due to a small cosmetic issue with some of the LEBRON 12 shoes we have delayed the initial retail launch that was scheduled for China on October 1, and the global launch that was scheduled for October 11. While it’s good that Nike’s got quality control in mind, especially for a shoe that’s expected to retail for $200. But, seeing the shoe miss the targeted release date isn’t the follow-up the company could’ve wanted after the huge rollout of colors they debuted only a few short weeks ago. Too, the new model is following up the previous model which LeBron barely worn, citing the fact that “they don’t feel as great as I want them to feel.” Instead, he opted for the lower priced Zoom Soldier VII for the majority of the season.
Even without LeBron wearing them, the sales of the LBJ11 still racked up a reported $300 million in sales. Don’t expect a delay to do anything to deter sales of the LeBron 12s either.
